I agree. Very few Hollywood films these days have any heart and soul. Every year it seems that great films become rarer and rarer. But when a film is great I can enjoy it whatever it is, even if it's meant for kids. So I don't think it's just that we're all older now...

There's always a chance that the bloopers will one day appear on a DVD, perhaps if Universal release a region 1 special edition for the US market.
