OK, I'm no scientist but I can't imagine which physical effects this galactic alignment might cause. Maybe no effects at all. And still it would explain the end of the Maya cycle who have always been fixated on the solar system, like many other ancient cultures as well.

As you see there are dozens of theories about what might happen.

The St. Malachy prophecy is very interesting. The last pope? Maybe we're indeed facing some kind of doomsday, I don't know. But he only seems to refer to Rome.

The end of Rome? The end of the Vatican? An attack from the NWO (or real islamists) to ultimately destroy the Vatican and kill the pope? In 2012?

We'll see. Let's hope that all of these theories are wrong. Because if there is something true behind all of this we are about to experience some bad days and we better enjoy the calm days we are able to spend right now.

I'm gonna get in all the Burbs watching I can and pray I don't die. Although if the world did end in 2012, I wouldn't have to pay off my school loans!! So that would be something to look forward to.

My instinctive reaction to all this cuts both ways

For one, there have always been those who pace up and down saying the end is nigh and doomsday is upon us etc...it's always happened.

But...there are too many individuals, cultures and civilisations all connecting exactly with this date for my liking...maybe something extraordinary will happen.

Maybe something good will happen - elevate the human race to a new level of consciousness, let's face it, the world is pretty f**ked up everywhere you look. Korea, Iran, China, Tibet, Pakistan, India, the Middle East.

You can sense something is brewing...something has to happen to the pressure cooker to release all this crap.

Last weak I watched a documentary about the polar ice caps melting. If their correct, 30% of earths shorelines will be under water within 50 years.

I read a little more about this galactic alignment.

It might indeed have physical effects. According to some scientists there is evidence to suggest the last time when earth was facing this galactic alignment, it caused a polar shift, a change in the electromagnetic field of earth. North- and Southpole might change their positions in the events of 2012.

And this might cause disastrous effects on nature connected with tidal waves, huge thunderstorms, hurricanes, cold spell and so on.
