Wow, I've just seen that the number of registered neighbours has grown to 140! It hasn't been that long ago when we were discussing the 100 members mark. Good to see that this board still attracts people.

Yes, that is good. Wish there was a way to get the word out to attract more people.

I can think of several.

Most people can start a Runboard discussion forum, that doesn´t really qualify for effort, but it also takes a bunch of dedicated people to "hang out" and set the mood, that´s harder to do...that´s what we´ve done so far.

A step further could be to set up a SERIOUS web page about the Burbs, connect it to this forum, so eg. the latest messages shows up on the main site front, and news about the burbs.

News could be "fan interviews" (I know that a few of you actually have talked with the cast members, eg Bruce Dern) so this is absolutely possible. I´m probably going to be in Astoria 2015 for the Goonies reunion, in which case I´ll dare myself to talk to Corey Feldman about the Burbs movie etc.

Another thing the web page and forum should host, is serious repeat events such as "The Burbs Neigborhood Party" and similar (think up creative names), and maybe someone with a big enough house could host an event? At least once a year, preferably summer.

If the web site could get sponsors (or the webmaster set up a paypal donation account for PRIZES), we could host competition events, Art´s Artwork compo, Best lookalike photo etc. etc. Think of creative burbs events you too! Prizes could be posters, and burbs memorabilia we´ve found and bought on eBay or similar, member suggestions etc.

If this thing could get going, then the press could be contacted, and maybe the site and forum would be featured in a retro-movie magazine or similar, then I´d bet the stone would get rolling.

Just a few suggestions...

WOW, that's very creative of you! I would love to spread the word:)

JoOngle comes up with some winning ideas right here, thanks for the input. Well we actually already had a guy here on this board ("Barkelow" if I remember correctly) who was going to build (or had actually already build) an own Burbs Page with a link to this board.

I remember that it was quite time-consuming for me to get this guy aboard. He was a member of the old Burbs forum (known as the John Osborne forum or something like that). Must have been quite a famous thing back in the old days of Internet. Our members Art Weingartner and Bonnie Rumsfield once were members of this board, too.

I was able to get the mailaddress of that guy and contacted him since I felt he was a true Burbanite and persuaded him to join this board. Had to persuade him since he and Bonnie obviously didn't like each other very much, must have been something that happened in that old Osborne / Osbourne forum.

Anyway, unfortunately that Barkelow guy left us here after a while and didn't even say goodbye. Maybe I can somehow find out if his Burbs page (it was a really good one) still exists and if he's willing to continue here.

I know people that make webpages for a living. I could talk to some of them and see how much it would cost for them to build a website.

We could build one for free as well, any WordPress gurus around here?

NNNNNNNNNO!

I found this site while sitting here watching the burbs, googling something about one of the scenes early on in the movie with the chemlawn truck. I probably watch this movie way to much.

There's no such thing as too much around these parts.
