I'm finally here too! I found this site from a link on IMDb. I read through all the threads there, except one which I will finish later. The one with 189 replies to it haha!

I loved the 'Deleted Your Post Burb Style' thread! Thought about adding one there myself. The movie is so great and me and several family members saw it in theaters when it first came out! About 3 or 4 times. Then got the VHS copy. Watched it many a time throughout the years!

Everyone in my family and I will sometimes repeat lines from the film, or add in a Klopek or some other reference from the film. Ironically my husband and I had just witnessed a neighbor's house actually burn to the ground, they weren't right across from us but across and two houses down on a corner so we actually had something like this happen (although in real life this is no laughing matter) but thankfully no one was home when it happened and nobody came out slithering down the steps!

We have pictures of it. A week or so later, my mom was driving me to my house and I made a reference to the Klopeks. I can't remember exactly what I said but she laughed. And the owners of the house were kinda strange and kept to themselves though everyone does that nowadays anyways...so...

So that's my intro, and I'd like to talk more about this movie with people as I really thought me and my family were like the only ones who even remembered The 'Burbs, let alone use lines from it from time to time. The movie has literally become a classic, a normal part of life. It's really wonderful that we're not the only ones! I never knew! I'll "sleep tight"!

Also a welcome from your neighbour Ray. And yes, you indeed found a place with other people, who love this movie just as much as you do :D

Good to have you here. Once upon a time i thought I was the only person in the world that loved this movie, I later found out about this place and I've been a loyal follower ever since.

Hope you'll enjoy your stay, you're at the right place!:)

Not just yet, I've got that thing in my stomach again.

Thanks everyone for the kind welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcomes and yes, yes I am of the female variety and I do plan to do something about my yard when Ray resembles the man that Carol married, because I feel I got that kind of time. Who knows?

IMDb is some source for all kinds of info so I was really happy to see this movie has caught on well with a cult following as it were. I suppose others for many years would get the 'Burbs references from time to time but since the movie came out, I swear, literally references and lines from it were used quite a lot and it's still a continuous factor.

Especially any reference to "Klopek", neighbors and that "about a 9 on the tension scale" bit. Must have used that a million times myself!

you know, I didn't even see a moving truck out front when you both move in.

Glad you made it to the board!

At least another female Burbanite. Female Burbanites are quite underrepresented here. Do you think this board looks romantic to the ladiiiiiies?

Sure! I'm from a neighborhood much like this one. But seriously, check out my links in my signature, they show where I live and travel between to and from nowadays.
