For me, nothing quite matches the Burbs. Off the top of my head, the Sandlot and E.T. are both nostalgic movies no one's mentioned that kind of come close.
After enough time passes between viewings of the Burbs or the Lord of the Rings trilogy I get a feeling where I absolutely have to watch them. They're the only movies that do that to me.
I kind of understand where you´re coming from Hydrocephalic, I have it the same way too with E.T, The Burbs and as you mentioned in another thread... The Money Trap...and also The Goonies (most of the first half), Ghostbusters etc...
It was from a great era, the 80s, people had aspirations and hopes for the future, togetherness and building a family, and neighborhood was the main focus. Today...this is kind of lost.
The Breakfast Club' "What about Bob" "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof "( i know that a old one) "The Santa Clause" one and two and "Groundhog Day" are a few i can think of right now.
