It struck me as I watched this for the billionth time, that that would send shock waves of fear throughout your neighborhood. Imagine...actually letting Art loose with a firearm??

That's why I got the gun I'm gunna pop it to 'em...He 'got' the gun...so someone either sold him it (Mark? the arms dealer across the street?) or he borrowed it...either way, I wouldn't want to be the one responsible for Art possessing a gun...I mean...come on...the guy's like a kid. He almost shot Ray.

Incidentally, Tom Hanks' reaction to the glass in his hair is fantastic...comedy acting at its best.

The Peterson's reaction to immediately storm out of their house speaks for itself. They know that "Art" + "gun" is a very dangerous combination. And only a few seconds later Art proves that their concerns are justified as Art almost shoots Ray. Art causes destruction even without a gun in his hand.

I always wondered how many times Art has been out in the neighborhood with a gun. I thought about why Ray says that Art has "a" gun, rather than "his" gun. In this case ... I guess it really doesn't matter who the gun belongs to, and it doesn't matter if Art has been out with a gun before - it just matters that he's out there with A gun right now.

It's not as light-hearted as "Walter's dog just took a dump..."

oh the crows are to big for the bird feeder.
Art shoots out Rays back poarch light and Mark shoots out the windshield of his corvet. I don't know who's worse.

Gunshots at morning neighbour take warning.
