coming friday, I have to deliver one of out cats to the vet, and they're gonna put her to sleep. reason: she's been gone for 7 months and she came back pregnant, and since we might be moving and dont really have the time or effort to look after kittens (let alone have them, cause nobody wants cats in this town these days) - my mom decided to have her put to sleep. :\ and I have to bring her to the vet, cause my mom is at work then. I asked the vets if they knew any places that would take the cat, but we only have one place, and they only take stray cats.

we've had this cat for like 6 years now, but she's only home during winter, then she leaves and three or four times, she's come home pregnant. (we have her on the pill)
It's gonna be so hard to leave her cause she's such a pretty cat and although very shy, she loves attention.

ARGH! it's gonna be really weird to know that when i leave the vet, it will be the last i see of that cat, and... she's gonna be afraid and alone, and if the kittens in her stomach are old enough, each of them all have to get the same shot. :\

Just wanted to let you know, I am sorry you are going through this. You'll be in my thoughts.

For God's sake! Why wasn't she neutered? That's just wrong...poor little thing. You can't just destroy an animal like that! Mind you, I guess cultural differences come into play...so I acknowledge that...But I tell you, here? That would not be allowed. We have pet rescue, cat protection leagues, animal shelters, etc... It seems wrong.

UGH yeah i know! i watch animal planet a lot, and they have like homes for animals, no matter what - and they bring inn small birds or mice and whatnot and fix them and send them back out when they're well enough. Here, we do !@#$. here we have seagulls by the dock and if they get too close to the city, people just step on the eggs, kill the adults in the cruelest ways, and they shoot ravens or other birds if they make too much noise.
And we have a forest near the city, and sometimes, not often though, a moose will wander off and come to close to our homes - and A LOT of people are like "omg why dont we just kill it?" WTF?? They're morons! They dont realize that it's a LIVING THING with a soul and with feelings. Sometimes I dont think people know what death means. I like to think that we go to a better place or something, but still, i fear death for myself and my loved ones, including my pets, because death means that you will never ever come back.

we have ONE animal shelter here and they only take stray cats, and they have like 16 cats i think, and that's it, they've got a full house and can barely take another one, so yeah, we suck.

I was so devastated when i brought my cat to the vet. They asked me if I wanted to be there when they did it, but I knew I could never handle it. If I had been stronger, I would have been with her the whole time, but I'm not comfortable with crying and going into hysterics infront of people. I kinda didnt want them to have to be professional around a heartbroken person, and I didnt want to stress my cat either.

the minute I turned to walk out the door, I started crying. I didn't want this to happen at all. I brought her in at 10 am and now it's past noon, so I guess they've already given her the shot.
GAWD it was so heartbreaking to get her to the vet, cause she's such a nice cat, she didnt mind being put in the cage, but after a while, she started meowing, and she has this sound that i can recognize really well, and I knew it was the last time I was ever gonna hear her. :\

Man, I agree with Art. That poor cat. Neutering takes so little and you really have a much better pet after it's done plus no unwanted kittens that roam the streets, get sick and die. I feel sorry for you, too, for being put in such a bad position.

It's horrible. A pet is a true member of the family. And I have to say I really dig cats. Cats are so cool. Okay, so dog lovers say cats are selfish and independent - but that's what I like about them. They're all so different with their own little idiosynchracies. Man. Such a shame. Poor cat.

Whenever I despair at the sufferings of people and animals around the planet I always opt back to a quote from Wayne's World 1: "The world's a sick place"

Unfortunately

Yeah, our two cats are completely different from each other. Both are part of the family in their own regard. I am not getting on your case, yellowtangerine, I think you got a raw deal having to do the dirty work.

This may be totally pointless but I just found two vids with cute kittens which I wanted to share with you:

Cute kittens. Didn't we do a poll as to what pets every owns or was that on the old board. Anyone have any experience with ferrets. I thought they would be mean, but they are less prone to bite than cats or dogs and are very cute, once you get past the "weasel" aspect.
