Just wanted to do that...

Guess I'd better make it into a topic.

Anyone ever made one? Not a topic, but a citizen's arrest? I'm guessing not. It's extremely rare. Though police/state powers and those of the citizen are being scrutinised more and more by criminologists, sociologists etc.

In the UK we have 'Specials' and "Community Liaison Officers" - but they have as much power as the rest of the general public to make an arrest. What do you guys in other counties have other than police as law-enforcement officers?

We have all sorts of police officers such as deputies, constables, etc. in addition to the regular police, not to mention the feds such as ATF, FBI, Secret Service, etc.

Theoretically, a private citizen can make a citizen's arrest, but I have never heard it actually happening. You better have an airtight case, otherwise you could be liable for criminal charges or a civil suit yourself.

It's all down to "reasonable force"

Funny thing, I went for a night out boozing with the cops and probation team on friday night. I caught the bus as I clearly wouldn't be in a fit state to drive, and the bus driver told me he'd made a citizen's arrest!!!!!!!!!!! unbelieveable coincidence!
