Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaany contenders...but what's your fave 80's track?

For me... Simple Minds "Don't You Forget About Me" from The Breakfast Club ranks high...as does "Bette Davies Eyes"..."Time After Time" by Cyndi, "Boys Of Summer" Don Henley...I need to think further cos Talk Talk, Dire Straits, Duran Duran, and many more wrote great tracks...but which track best sums up the 80s for you?

Without any doubt my favorite 80's song:

And many other Huey songs (Stuck with you, Hip to be square, Perfect World, Jacob's Ladder). I'm a great fan.

Also one of the most 80's - like sounding bands: Scritti Politti (strange name, but in the 80's...no problem):

80's at its best :D

my favorite 80's song would be "start me up" by the Rolling Stones. they still use it today in pro football and basketball.

Also quite good. Obviously some reggae influences. The last one I know from them is "Boom there she was", also very 80's - like.

By the way: Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" is indeed a great 80's song. Henley managed to create this feeling of loneliness. Whenever I hear this song, I can virtually see those empty beaches, empty roads. Henley creates a great atmosphere with this song.

Out on the road today, I saw a deadhead sticker on a Cadillac
A little voice inside my head said, "Don't look back. You can never look back."
I thought I knew what love was - what did I know?
Those days are gone forever
I should just let them go but-

If you want to add a great Live - DVD to your collection I can recommend Don Henleys "Inside Job" - DVD. Some 80's songs (Boys of summer, All she wants to do is dance, Dirty Laundry), some Eagles songs (Desperado, Long Run, Hotel California) and some new songs. It's really good.

I always liked "Don't Dream its Over" - Crowded House

Always liked the Eagles and Henley was one of the few members of a major musical group who really did well on his own.

I really like "All I Need Is A Miracle" by Mike and the Mechanics. :)

I hear it at work all the time, and I still like it.

Glenn Frey did very well on his own, too:

"The heat is on"

"Love in the 21st Century"

"I've got mine"

"You belong to the city"

By the way, here's Don Henley's performance of "Boys of Summer" from the Inside Job DVD. Hard to find and soon going to be deleted since Henley's lawyers obviously often check youtube.

ah the Breakfast club. Awesome movie! "what if you're dope was on fire?" "impossible, it's in Johnsons pants"

80's song...Everybody Want's To Rule The World by Tears for Fears.
