German Idol performance

Ray, how many years of English did you have in school? Your English is impeccable. We had a German kid (high school senior) stay with us in 2004 (son of a friend of a friend) for 7 weeks. He understood almost everything. His accent was slight. He knew slang. The only things that stumped him were fairly archaic words like "haughty". I was blown away. My wife told me I had to only speak English around him because he was here to learn English. He loved basketball, by the way. Didn't like Turks much ;).

Well, the subtle irony is that of all things I have to look up the word "impeccable". :D

I had English from grade 5 to grade 13, which is 8 years. Plus I'm using English on the job, watching English movies and occasionally reading English books. By the way, here in Germany we all start learning English by the fifth grade, which means approximately at the age of 10 or 11.

Along with Economics, English was my best and favorite school subject (advanced course).

Well, he may be telling the truth there, but I'm not so much into Basketball. Is LeBron an overpaid loser?
 
You know, I think he is actually a pretty good basketball player and wirklich nicht einer Verlierer; however, all pro athletes are überbezahlter in my opinion.
 
I took the family to see the Atlanta Hawks play Cleveland this season, mainly to see Lebron play. He had a good game but the Hawks won that night.
 
I cant stand the Idol show. It's all a populatiry contest.
