I like older country music as well although I have to say that it should not go back further than the 80's. Some (US) people claim that today's charts are hardly "Country" anymore but I don't think so. It's just modern country but undeniably country.
From the 80's stuff I especially like "Alabama". While no one knows this band here in Germany it is a super band in the USA. Songs like "Roll on 18 wheeler" or "Song of the south" can be heard again and again.
I also discovered a band named Shenandoah. I like their sound as well (although it's quite similar to the Alabama sound).
Here's another one I really like with some VERY strong lyrics, really amazing and touching in my opinion, especially considering the fact that during my civilian service I was working for 10 months in a nursing home back in 2001 and experienced something very similar. Reminds me of these days a lot.
