Vielen Dank. I try to add several new words every week. The problem with Americans is that we don't learn other languages. Perhaps because we are a nation of immigrants who, until recently, were so determined to learn English that we left our native languages behind. I am primarily German but there was absolutely no one in my family who could speak a single sentence in German.
Yeah I guess it wouldn't seem that strange to you. Imagine the Indians speaking French!!! and then instead of attacking the soldiers from the fort, they would surrender (Sorry, my anti French bias coming out)
It is odd that in spite of being allies with the French in the last two world wars and opposing the Germans, most Americans have a very high opinion of Germans and a low one of the French.
LOL I know...hence my tongue-in-cheek comment about generalisations haha!
The most arrogant, detestable people from any city I've met are Londoners. Again, not ALL obviously...but as a rule of thumb.
Then again...maybe any main cities are the same?...New York, London, Paris...as it's such a transient population; no-one is really interested in politeness. It's gimme your money and get the f outta here NEXT!
