I took a jolt!

Yeah, I guess most pliers do now don't they - probably just for that reason. He said he checked to see that the switch was off, but evidently not. I think I would have flipped the breaker as well but maybe not. Maybe his wife was out for the insurance money and just told him the switch was off!!!

Diabolical. Teuflische.

Ah, your German skills are coming to light again.

Vielen Dank. I try to add several new words every week. The problem with Americans is that we don't learn other languages. Perhaps because we are a nation of immigrants who, until recently, were so determined to learn English that we left our native languages behind. I am primarily German but there was absolutely no one in my family who could speak a single sentence in German.

Ever watched the German dubbed version of "The Burbs"? :)

Or is it too much of a good thing?

I bet I could buy it on Amazon. I saw one the other day that I laughed at - Der tanzt mit dem Wolf. I can just imagine the Indians speaking German.

I bet that must have been funny. If I imagine Indians speaking Dutch or something like that.

Yeah I guess it wouldn't seem that strange to you. Imagine the Indians speaking French!!! and then instead of attacking the soldiers from the fort, they would surrender (Sorry, my anti French bias coming out)

It is odd that in spite of being allies with the French in the last two world wars and opposing the Germans, most Americans have a very high opinion of Germans and a low one of the French.

Why is that the case?

Maybe because the French are a bunch of arrogant, aloof, self-important *****

I hope that didn't come across as too much of a generalised anti-French vibe...
