Haven't been as active as I would like here lately. You all are a great group of neighbors - the best ever, so I will share my end of year with you.

I had my life unexpectedly disrupted on the America holiday of Thanksgiving. We celebrate at the end of November by gathering around with family and a good meal.

This year, my Mom and Dads were driving home from our gathering, not very far, a few minutes drive home. Their car was hit by a drunk driver, he was driving the wrong way down the street with no lights on.

My 86 year old dad died in the hospital that night.

Thus began the dark times for me at the end of this year. We've done our services and burial and I'm looking forward to getting back to things like my 'Burbs forum and other routines.

Just wanted you all to know. This a video the local news did about my Dad and the incident. He was a really great Dad and person.

You can always count on us mate. This movie is a nice comfort
flick, and it'll be even more a comfort movie after that sh!t.
I still don't understand why the laws are so soft against drunk
driving, it should be considered like an attempted murder.

My condolences to you and your family.

If it's any comfort, I can say that my Grandmother died at age 82, and my mother of age 60 (smoking). But my grandmother was like my mother and it was devastating when she passed, so I understand your feelings.

But what I do to cope with it, is to imagine as if I was as lucky to get to be 82, that's above median death age where I live.

Your dad got to be 86 (we should be so lucky), and stupid stupid STUPID drunk drivers, they are the most egoistic people on earth, judging themselves to be fully in control even when drunk, aaaah...

Well, I hear you neighbor - we're for sure gonna watch comfort movies like a good horror movie here and there ;)

Happy new year to you and your family when you get there, and see you all in that new year!

I hope this message finds you surrounded by love and support during these challenging times. I was deeply saddened to read about the tragic accident that took your father away from you on Thanksgiving. I took a moment to watch the news video you shared, and it painted a brief but yet poignant picture of the wonderful person your father was. It's evident that he touched the lives of many with his warmth and kindness.

Please accept my deepest condolences and know that you are in my (and I guess all of our) thoughts. I hope you find solace in the cherished memories and the love that your father undoubtedly bestowed upon you.

Your online community is here to offer support, understanding, and a virtual shoulder to lean on. Feel free to share your thoughts, feelings, or simply reach out whenever you need.

I just recently heard an older Elton John song that I almost completely forgot about. It's called "Healing Hands" and it provided me with comfort in sad times. One line that I like in this song is "There's a light, where the darkness ends." May the memories of your father be a source of light in the midst of darkness.

My condolences, may your father rest in peace. He seems lovely, and I'm sure he lived a full and happy life with you as his family.

We're here for you my friend!

Many thanks all for your kind and supporting words. You are the best neighbors!

I look forward to what we do this year!

I still have a sense of humor and so did my Dad. I will say "Nobody knocks off an old man in my neighborhood and gets away with it"

Sorry to hear, that sounds really horrible. There's not much one can say about those things, is there. Here's wishing you the best and may he rest in peace.
