I don't know if this would be categorized as a 'mistake' so much as inconsistency...but Rumsfield has a good sized swamp cooler on top of his house! They don't use those things in the midwest... the humidity is high enough already! Even tho there was no direct reference in the movie made to the resident's location it's widely known the inspiration for the story came from the midwestern United States, and they only use those things out west in the desert where the air is hot and dry...

We're not talking about mistakes in the context of plot or storyline, but there are obvious production oversights as have already been noted numerous times, just as there are in *every* movie. Afterall, they were produced by humans...
