Movies That Genuinely Scared You

Okay, so I generally have nerves of steel, especially where movies are concerned. I laugh in the face of demon possessed kids, I don't bat an eyelash at slashers, and my granny is scarier than most monsters.

But haunted house movies? Hahaha, nope. Not if I'm alone, not if I'm in a new place. Won't do it, man.

1 is a very good movie. Cant really recall 2. Watching those before 3 will give you an understanding of the overall plot

@DemonPrincess: Speaking of Haunted House movies there is one which is only occasionally being mentioned but by many is considered as one of the best. No blood, no gore, only fantastic scares and goosebumps all the way through:

@Kris: Don't get me wrong, Poltergeist 3 is in my opinion far away from being a really great horror movie. It's indeed extremely underrated and for me personally the scare factor is very high but many people think differently. So please don't expect too much then.

After just contributing to the "It Chapter 2" topic I thought I'd give an update on this one too since I never completed my list of movies that really scared me.

Besides of the already mentioned "Intruders" the one that still stands out and made me really feel extremely uncomfortable was "The Descent". It combined so many elements done in a great manner. You had a great mix of creepy moments and jump scares. Creepy moments as well as jumps scares worked in every single scene. The tensions was continuosly high. Even without the creatures this would have been an extremely scary movie with the girls just being trapped in the dark, narrow cave system. Put the creatures on top and you have the ultimate tour de force. Has anyone ever seen this?

When I was young (8-9 years) I got hold of Nightmare on Elm Street (can't remember which one, but I remember a track and field scene). I was so scared after watching it that I couldn't dare to see the VHS tape in my room, I had to hide it.

But the most scared a movie ever made me was The Ring. I didn't expect what I got and it was the first Asian horror movie I've seen (although being the American version).

I was so scared that I had to have a friend walk home with me :omg: :omg: :omg:
