We have two of them, one of the families are from Jugoslavia, and the other ones (sharing a partial lawn-limit with them) are from Romania.
Shady characters...keeps mostly to themselves, the Romanian family are amazing with their house though, not at all like the Klopeks, they do fix and repair their house all the time, but they´re making it very private... all their new windows now have colored windows, kind of like church mosaik colors, making it impossible to see in or out...
...they´re also re-shaping the old typical American/Swedish house into a Romani style house, they never talk Swedish, and seem to have Romani friends over which talks loudly in Romanian all the time, keeps looking suspiciously on all of the native neighbors around here.
I talked to our own "Walter" in this street, the elderly couple (around 80-90) did´nt like them one bit, told me they where happy I was to be their new neighbor and bought the house next to them, otherwise the entire neighborhood would soon become Slavic...
You may wonder why people around here don´t care too much for our "Romanian friends", but they have a bit of a bad reputation around in Scandinavia, as we usually don´t get the Romanian best-citizens, but those who have fled their own country for economical reasons, and these often include thieves, croocks & scammers, personally I´ve met 3 of the scamming kind...and thus...are not too fond of them either.
I was at a local Auction here in our little city, I bought a fantastic table from Lions Club (a chairity auction), after the purchase, I made a deal with Lions that they´d help me freight that table with chairs back to my house.
Then this old Rumanian lady came and sat her bags on one of the chairs, it was a sharp bag, and I kindly asked her to remove it from my chairs.
She denied removing it, and started to wave her hands around angrily, calling for someone, and then another younger romanian came along and told me in English, this was HIS table, not mine.
No one of the Lion Clubs members could verify that it was in fact HIS table, but could verify that it was me who won the bidding and it´s mine.
Then more and more romanians came along, until there was 10 of them, and they all started to circle around me, talking in romanian...and the Swedish Lion Club officers where worried now...they´re old people...and didn´t want to keep fighting.
So the Romanians ended up taking my tables with them, and kept shouting in Romanian later...and I went home.
Much later, I found out that these romanians actually share a property line with me
For the sake of neighbor peace - I always greet them (at least the father & the mother that I did not have a dispute with), but even they behave weirder and weirder...spooky people.
Their back yard look like crap, it´s like ONE big wasteland...
