Whenever I see Ricky Butler’s introduction scene, I notice he is wearing a sleeveless black T-shirt with what seemingly looks like the Batman logo on it covered by a red mesh tank top; then, I recalled that the film Batman starring Michael Keaton had come out on June 23, 1989.

So, I think there could be a connection between those two films; it’s possible that Ricky is a Batman fan.

What do you think?

yeah, he's definitely a fan. Hard to make out the batman logo though as he's wearing what loks like a red mesh tanktop over it.

I agree with you there, of course. (However, I did notice you spelled “looks” wrong, but that’s all right; even writers make errors in spelling and grammar sometimes.)

I thought at first that the movie might have been distributed by Universal, too, but it was Warner Bros. So "The Burbs" almost advertised the movie of the competition, right?

Yeah, I agree. Now that’s an interesting theory right there. ;)

It's not the Batman logo from the Michael Keaton movie though. The bat is more like a Halloween bat. If you look closely, it's definitely an older shirt.

An extraordinary observation — I like it. :)

Could be another nod to Batman from Joe Dante, like he did in Gremlins 2.Ricky being a fan also fits to his character.

I agree with you there. :D

To be honest I have never noticed

Little fact, in Friday the 13th part 8 you can see the BATMAN logo in one of the opening shots of times square

Pretty cool!
