To all Rush fans (Art i'm talking to you) the song "Spirit of the Radio" has helped me cruz through life. I love this song. Art, I know you've probably heard it a bazillion times, but, it's always good to remember some of the greates tunes and lyrics ever. Long live Rush and the Spirit of Rock-n-roll!

"Begin the day with a friendly voice
A companion unobtrusive
Plays that song that's so elusive
And the magic music makes your morning mood

Off on your way, hit the open road
There is magic at your fingers
For the Spirit ever lingers
Undemanding contact in your happy solitude

Invisible airwaves crackle with life
Bright antennae bristle with the energy
Emotional feedback on timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price, almost free

All this machinery making modern music
Can still be open hearted
Not so coldly charted
It's really just a question of your honesty, yeah
Your honesty
One likes to believe in the freedom of music
But glittering prizes and endless compromises
Shatter the illusion of integrity"

I don't know Rush but I just checked this song out on youtube. Doesn't make me a fan but really sounds good to me.

Yeah RY.

Rush's music and lyrics have been a way of life for me since I discovered them waaaaay back. I was in a Rush tribute (drums) for years. Neil is God of Drums.

Their latest album is fantastic.

Check this out and play very LOUD

I don't think Neil Peart is that much of a great lyricist. I mean, this is the same guy who wrote about an army of trees fighting each other.

But I really like Rush's music.

Have you been influenced by the Trailer Park Boys perchance?? "Rush write about how different parts of your brain work, trees talking to each other and outer space bullsh*t". That character was a moron. And smells.

The trees was about socialism/communism or at least proletariats and the bourgesoise. Or trade unions. Peart has joked it wasn't.

I think you'll find Peart is one of the best lyricists in music by the way.

He's a very well respected lyricist and regarded by many as the greatest drummer alive since Buddy Rich died.

Hey, I'm not bashing the guy, I'm a Rush fan myself. Truthfully, I don't focus on lyrics that much...i don't think they even matter in rock/metal.

Nah, you wanna go down to the deli to get one of those beef sandwiches?

Each to his own.
