So I was looking around for a positive review of The Burbs for God knows what reason and one of the more positive ones included this comment:

<span class="postlistquotedtext"><blockquote>quote:<center><hr width="100%"/></center>I can’t help thinking it would come over better late at night at a drive-in. A good companion piece would be the surreal 1981 film NEIGHBORS.<center><hr width="100%"/></center></blockquote></span>

I had honestly never heard of this movie even though it stars Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi (in his final role).

I was simply looking for a recommendation on this and other similar movies, and who better to ask than fellow Burbs fans?

Dan and John, two of my fave actors...I've never heard of it either!

I haven't either. Amazing since at the time of filming they were pretty big stars.

Didn't get high marks but then again, neither did the Burbs.

I'd have to agree Neighbors would be good double feature with The 'burbs, but it is a very weird movie.<center><hr width="100%"/></center></blockquote></span>

So you're saying Neighbors is similarly-themed, but in other aspects (e.g. style of comedy) it is a lot different?

I would consider The Burbs to be weird (as in unusual) as well, that is why I wanted to clarify.

I saw that movie, and it's pretty good, not nearly as good as the 'Burbs though. It was a little on the odd side, but entertaining. It's been YEARS since I've seen it, maybe it's time to watch again.

I'm outta here, scope me.

I don't know if I would call it the same style of comedy as the 'burbs, but an 1980's comedy that is weird and would be a good Drive-In movie double feature.
I really never thought of the 'burbs as weird, just funny. Try and rent it and see what you think. I've never considered buying it.

Speaking of Drive-In movies, do ya'll have those over across the pond?
