You can tell that Carol just knew Ray, Art & Rumsfield were the cause of the destruction at the end of the movie, even before she saw them. Check out the look on her face as she shuts the car door.
 
Yeah, she already knew something was gonna happen when she left and drove away with Dave (worried and suspicious look on her face).

So when she returned she must have thought something like "I knew it!"
 
the hydrocepahic told her when she was at the lake house.
 
Yeah, she was on to them the whole time, but she just didn't realize how far over the top they would go. She probably just thought Ray would just pal around with those two chuckleheads - you know just a little snooping and spying.
 
Somewhere it has already been mentioned: she must have clairvoyant abilities.

Yeah but if she had been there she would have squashed the insanity like a bug.
