THE 'BURBS Screenplay?

There's another version of the screenplay on the site where I got this one. It's undated, so not sure if it's earlier or later. But at some point I'll get it to see how this thing evolved. Can never get enough stuff about The Burbs!

That's my favorite line too. It's actually my IMDB signature.

There was a rewrite after this, and I believe Joe Dante said there a lot of ad-libbing. The film was shot in sequence so any changes they did make, could easily be made to fit into the story.<center><hr width="100%"/></center></blockquote></span>

Yeah, on some youtube clip Joe Dante also mentions there was a lot of improvising by the actors, especially from Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher and that he encouraged them to do so. So it's very likely that many differences to the script are not because of any re-writing but more because of the ad-lib.

I see the darkest ending was in the script, it's a different angle but still cool, the alternate ending also was good with the suburbs speech.I like the ending they ultimately chose too.

Can't wait to see the ending with cheerleaders or garbies in the trunk.

You still believe they will put this on the Blu Ray, right? :)

I'm still not that optimistic. They will certainly put a lot of great stuff on the Blu Ray but not another alternate ending. It'll be a positive suprise for me if they do but I just don't believe that.

Finished reading the script while on vacation in the cabin.

Great read, and it's fun to see all the little bits and pieces that were changed along the way. That ending is dark though, and didn't really fit in a comedy like the rest of the script set it up to be. Maybe it didn't start out as a comedy?

Either way, it was a great read, Thanks Kris Klopek, and I'm glad they stuck with the ending in the movie.

I'm not optimistic about that either. It would be a great surprise, but I'm not going to expect to see any new endings.

There's a chance. You never know. In Arrow films' statement that came along with the delay for the new bly rays, they said this: "Mr Dante is also helping us secure some very exclusive extra content which has never been seen before including deleted and alternate scenes."

So you never know!

By the way, that entire statement from Arrow Films can be read here: https://www.facebook.com/ArrowVideo/posts/777814388919224

Don't worry. Just getting the blu ray in the mail and opening it will feel like Christmas :) No need to play to enjoy it!

Dang! So being in the US, I'll have to get a region 2 blu-ray player? I already have a region 2 player, but I can't remember if it's blu-ray or not.
