Peacock has given a straight-to-series order to The ‘Burbs, a contemporary series adaptation of the 1989 Universal Pictures horror-comedy film of the same name. Celeste Hughey (Palm Royale, Dead to Me) is writing and executive producing the mystery comedy series which will star Keke Palmer (Nope, Password), also an executive producer on the project from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Seth MacFarlane (Ted), Erica Huggins and Aimee Carlson executive produce for Fuzzy Door under the company’s UCP overall deal alongside Brian Grazer, Kristen Zolner and Natalie Berkus for Imagine Entertainment, which produced the 1989 movie. Dana Olsen, the writer of the film directed by Joe Dante, will serve as co-executive producer on the series.

Actually, one should be happy about such news, but I've also become more cautious after some series were rather big disappointments.

Let's wait and see how it turns out, but I don't have any great expectations. Let's just hope that it's not another series with an “educational mission”.

I've never seen "Dead like me" for which Celeste Hughey seems to be responsible, too, but it has pretty good reviews and seems to be a pretty good dark comedy.

What the Rizz?

I should be SUPER excited. I think I am super excited? but that last sentence ended with a question mark.

Can anyone from the production of this chime in here and speak to their love of the 'Burbs?

This has the potential, imagine how many new neighbors this could bring :)
