YES! It's finally happening, the great 80s childhood movie is making a comeback, Richard Donner is now finally making the sequel, and he plans to use some of the original cast too:

(Btw: I've been to Astoria TWICE, that's a heck of a ride from Sweden to USA/OR/Astoria, even made it to the newspaper - The Daily Astorian) ;)

 
This would be too good to be true. I'd love Donner to take up this sequel but since this was posted 5 years ago and in the meantime nothing really happened, I'm having my doubts if this indeed becomes reality.
 
Thanks for that link. Wow, Goonies 2, I'd love that. I just hope Richard Donner wasn't teasing the guy asking the questions. In the video on the page you linked to, Donner seemed to be a bit annoyed with the guy asking the questions, and I'm wondering if he was just making a fool of him?

Actually, I watched The Goonies about a week ago, and then I listened to the commentary with Donner and all the cast. This commentary was recorded in 2001, and way back then he was also mentioning that they were trying to do a sequel. Let's hope this time it happens!

Wouldn't be as good as The Burbs 2 though :)
 
Thanks for the new link. So Donner has often mentioned it but I think that's a good thing, he has this thing in the back of his mind and sooner or later it will become reality. I just hope they will not mess it up.
