As discussed on Letterman (3rd link). Imagine Tom driving this around Mayfield Place and Hinkley Hills?

I doubt any of us could affofd a electric car.
But at least ol'Tom is trying. He's funny AND smart.

Course, electric cars have to be plugged in to the mains....and what powers the mains :)

Is it something cute and fuzzy?

Unless you have a yard dedicated to solar panels or a big wind turbine on your house you gonna be charging your car on coal or nuclear. Or hydro.

Oh well, best intentions.

We're paying $7.13 per gallon of regular fuel here.

What is it over in the U.S.?

Concerning gas prices you can't compare Europe and the US, the gap is still huge.

I'm always too lazy to convert our prices because

a) we're calculating in litres, not in gallons and

b) the prices are in Euro

So I have to calculate litres in gallons and Euros in Dollars. That's more than my tiny brain can handle.

Currently we're paying 1,32 Euro per litre.

Damn it, I will do the maths now.

1 Gallon = 3,78541178 litres

1 Euro = 1.39494 USD

-------------

1,32 EUR x 1,39494 USD = 1,84 USD per litre

1,84 USD x 3,78541178 litres = 6,97 USD per gallon
