What part of the Burbs affect you every day?

Mr. Peterson had a winning comment that made me make this new thread about MOODS and the BURBS, you know...how does the BURBS affect your daily life, how do you relate to the movie in your everyday life?

I'll start out...

Sometimes I can hear parts of the Burbs movie music inside my head, according to what mood I'm in, maybe really screwed up here...but I find it slightly comical...here goes nothing:

Eg, when I'm in "On a Mission" mood...that's kind of when I've been working hard in the yard, substituting at the local schools, paying bills and doing my duties...I kind of hear that Rumsfield "Millitary whistle music", don't remember what it's called, but it's that tune they tune to when Rumsfield has some activity in the movie...like a military march flute & drum music.

And when I feel something spooky is going on, either some "bad-karma" coming from something that maybe happened earlier, or the creepy feeling something isn't right, I hear the "Klopeks zoom into the old house" music...

When I'm all sunny and cheery, you know...in a very good mood - like everything is going well for me, neighbors greeting me in a friendly way, doing well with the students at school, I get that cheery "Paperboy-opening-Mayfield-Place" music in my head...

...or if I'm in a party mode, of course...party at Ricky's place with Circus of Power (Music). I sometimes put that on - REAL LOUD on my stereo in the house, don't dare to put the speakers outside though, it's a fairly respectable neighborhood...and I'm not 16 anymore ;)

Anything you guys relate to, or am I just plain nuts?

That is screwed up and I LOVE it!:):):)

I frequently use quotes from the movie that no one of my friends get.

And when something is going down aka I feel suspicious about something I always get in my Burbs mode, that being snooping, and asking direct questions... :)

I can only agree with JoOngle concerning the imagination of certain parts of the music from the movie. Most of the time (I'd say about 90%) I imagine the very short kind of military whistle you can occasionally hear, almost a little bit like a bird singing. You can for example hear it at the beginning when Ray is walking out in his pyjama and sees Rumsfield lightning his cigarette.

The other part of music that frequently plays in my head is the one in spooky situations. It's the music part which you can hear in the sequence when Hans carries the garbage bag to the garbage can (only when he carries it, not when he's beating the hell out of it with a stick).

Same thing here. I quote the burbs to my wife at least once a day and when I do I get the "eye roll".

Lovely to know I'm not the only "screwed up" personality in here. :D

In fact, that just confirms it - we should meet, in real life :)

Maybe one day this will happen on some Burbs Day. With a decent BBQ and everything that needs to be done on such a day. We just have to figure out where since we are spread all over the world.

Yeah, I remember inviting you guys to my Burbs day barbecue. The only difficulty is that we live in different places.

Pathologist Sweden
RayPeterson Germany
JoOngle Sweden

Then we have some folks from the US and Uk as well. Shouldn't be impossible to arrange something in the future. I'm all for it!:)

It have to be a summer sometime though, barbecue down to our knees in Snow doesn't quite do it for me ;)

The logistics would be tough. Great idea though. :D

Yeah, definitely during the the summer. June or July, some steaks on the grill, a couple of hundred beers, rewatch the movie for the fifth hundred time and a firework to finish it all! :)
