That's interesting, the Barkelows are the family living right next to Walter at the end of the cul-de-sac (Mayfield Place 668 to be precise). They are never mentioned in the movie but obviously the script at least alluded to their kid.

Although I can understand that they took him out of the script, I mean, a kid on a bike with a squeaky wheel? Doesn't quite sound like a valuable addition to the script in my opinion.

The Barkelow kid wasn't filmed, according to Dana Olsen the character didn't make it to the movie, but he misses this character who was here to get on the nerves of Ray.

In the movie the name was changed to Finnell, after the name
of movie co-producer Michael Finnell.

Whoa, okay so I'm new to the "missing day" and just want to clarify. So the morning that Rumsfield and Walter notice that their yards are devastated, is it implied that the animal noises Ray heard the previous night were during the act of some animal/thing/person trashing their yards? And the Klopeks had something to do with it?

Is this alluded to in the script at all?

Yeah ,in the script there is a street shot after Ray and Vince are freaking out because of the shrieking, something is dragging a carcass in the dark and goes back throught the Klopek's gate, wich is opened by one of them.Landru I guess.

I've tried again to contact Archie's wife tofay , maybe he remembers something about that deleted scene.

Archie doesn't remember the scene he played...Bummer.
But i've noticed that there is a new extra in the Shout Factory
edition, wich could maybe fill some blanks about the missing day :

"NEW Interviews With Director Joe Dante, Editor Marshall Harvey, And Director Of Photography (Additional Scenes) John Hora "

Thanks for keeping track on this. Solving this really seems to be on your bucket list :)

This Shout Factory edition really seems promising. Let's keep our fingers crossed. March 20 is coming closer.

That part in the script was just wonderful, the joke of Ricky about the 8 foot radioactive possum makes me chuckle each time.We know for sure some parts were filmed but maybe not the entire day, but I really wanna know that's for sure pal.

Another one of my favorite movies is Tremors. This story has a character named "Fred" who gets eaten by the "graboids" early on.
