Are there any Band Geeks here?

Wow that Neil Peart vid was awesome.

I own the "Whitesnake live: In the still of the night" DVD and there is a solo part of the crazy drummer Tommy Aldridge which is also fantastic but in my opinion a little bit too "wild".

And believe me, when you go to see a band, if the drummer ain't good, it'll be the first thing you note - not the singer, not the bassist, etc...it just all falls apart.

You have to have a rock steady rhythm section. Without it, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page...all will sound crap. It's the cornerstone.

But some drummers have elevated themselves above and beyond. Buddy Rich for one. Neil Peart for another, arguably the greatest drummer on the planet. This is who I am emulating!!!

That's him. I've seen him live loads of times and will be seeing him live again next month.
