Same game as with Mark Rumsfield:

What makes Art so annoying and unlikeable? Clearly Bonnie and Carol didn't want him as one of the "adults" when they where planning to visit the Klopeks to say HI...

I'll start off with a few:

- He invites himself in for dinner, opens up other peoples refrigerators, takes what he wants etc.

- Steals (and he's supposed to be a teacher?)

- Talks with his mouth full of food (no manners)

What makes you think he's a teacher? Are there any hints in the movie? There must be a thread buried somewhere here in which we were discussing the various jobs but I don't seem to remember that we identified Art as a teacher.

But back to topic:

- He's annoying and doesn't know when to stop e.g. in the "Ray you're chanting" scene or when he's daring Ray to ring the Klopek's doorbell.

I would say the #1 thing is he almost shoots you when hunting crows (big suckers too).

I remember having a discussion about Art's job. I think in the scene when he is up the telephone pole he has a shirt on with his name and I think the company was a phone company.

On the other hand some believed that the phone company shirt was just another gadget like the golfing suit etc.

For those who are interested: Here's our old thread about the jobs:

JoOngle, Pathologist, maybe you guys want to contribute to the jobs thread and let us know what you think about their jobs?

Edit: I searched my hard drive and really found something interesting: I already posted my thoughts about their jobs on imdb back in 2007 but the corresponding thread has been deleted in the meantime. However, I saved a word-copy on my hard drive and posted it in the jobs thread.

It coudl very well be about his shirt, but a lot of people play golf and wear goofy clothes on the golf course. But to have a phone company shirt with your name on it, a hard hat etc it a little odd, even for Art.

Hmmmmm, that's true.

If he worked for the phone company, wouldn't he know his way around wires?

Here's reasons why I wouldn't like having Art as neigbor:

- He eats all your food.
- Spits gum on your sidewalk/driveway
- Throws garbage in the streets
- Almost shoots you

That's why you would like to have him as a neighbour? :omg:

HAHAHA! Whoops! Yes, those are the qualities I want in a neighbor. I was typing quickly, because my niece and nephew were over. :p I corrected it now.
