Art tells Ray he spoke to the real estate broad that sold the Klopeks the house? And apparently gleaned all that information about their last house burning down...a hideous, raging, inferno...
At the end of the movie, Doctor Klopek confesses to Ray that the Knapps were stubborn (you know how old people are) and so they took it from them.
Thus...Art told a lie.
 
yeah it could be a fib, or it could be a "fake" real estate broad, that worked with the klopeks? or maybe that's what the klopeks had told her aswell, right before they killed her. not because they wanted to, but because she was in the way. O_O
 
Fake real estate broad...you mean....the girl in the picture...the one that came with the frame?? That's one of the theories yeah. Allied with the Klopeks...and she helped them move in... and...and.....Art was snooping....and she made up they'd bought it from the Knapps...and then they........buried 'em in the backyard.....

I like this.
 
You're right, people who live in those always seem to be "interesting" or just plain crazy. At least that's how it is in my neighborhood.
