Burbs Day 2016!

It's the second Saturday of July. Only a month away. It seems like we just had Burbs Day. How time flies.


But that doesn't mean you can't have a pre-Burbs Day Day.
 
Yes indeed, 2nd saturday in July so this year it's going to be on July 9.

However, I feel a little ashamed to just realize that there has been another day we agreed upon last year which we kind of missed. Remember when Rick Ducommun died last year we intended to introduce the "Big week for the bachelor kid" day in reminiscence of Rick on his day of death. It's up to us how to remember Rick this day but watching The Burbs is definitely one option.

As you can see on his imdb page (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0239958/?ref_=tt_cl_t4) he passed away on June 12, 2015. So usually last Sunday it would have been up to us to do this. As far as I'm concerned, I will have my "Big week for the bachelor kid day" tomorrow so it's just one week delay.
 
I too think we should do something special around June 12 each year and will carve some time out to have "Big week for the bachelor kid". I'm really good at this.

Although I always get grief for celebrating/remembering "death day" instead of "birth day", I think in this case it is fitting. The world is filled with all kinds of things, black masses, mutilations, MUTILATIONS! so I think it is fitting to honor the death day.

I'll regroup for another celebration mid July and get the family and neighbors and whoever will watch for Burbs viewing.



 
Since I missed Rick's day on the 12th this year too, maybe I'll watch Little Monsters or Groundhog Day on Burbs day as an extra little tribute.

perfect timing!

My vacation starts by the end of this friday (I took a week off, well, 3 actually). So I will probably fix the BBQ, drink a couple of hundred beers and smoke an occational cigar, outside! Pop in the Blu-Ray Peterson and get billed by the !@#$ power company while the neighbours are gone for the day.

PS: I feel sad reading about Rick. Can't believe it's been a year already?

I still need to get some of my traditional Burbs day pretzels. Apart from that, I'm ready! Now I just need to decide if I should watch The Burbs early in the afternoon, or wait until late at night...
