I was watching The Achievers Documentary recently ( http://www.achieversmovie.com/ ) I marveled at the fan base surrounding the Big Lebowski movie and how they grew their fan festival each year to the point that Jeff Bridges showed up to one.

I know we have a tiny, disparate, group of 'Burbs fans here. I don't think we could pull off anything like the Lebowski Fests. It would be cool however to hang out with a bunch of other 'Burbs fans for a day, be lazy, drink a couple hundred beers and celebrate the film. Has anything like this been tried before?





 
If I remember correctly we once discussed the possibility to collectively watch "The Burbs" together on Burbs Day long ago. However, we had to discover that this was virtually impossible since we are scattered all over the world. There are Burbanites in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the UK, Germany, Australia, the USA...

The only possibility I see is to make this happen where the fanbase is big enough and I assume due to its larger population this might be the USA. However, for me as a German for example, it will be something I will most likely not be able to participate.

Maybe it doesn't have the same feeling but has there ever been something like a virtual fanfest? :D

I just imagine some Burbanites coming together via the possibilities of today's technology in some kind of web conference or something like that? Maybe this would also be easier for someone who has been involved in the movie to participate for an hour or so, too. Imagine Joe Dante switching in via webex for 30 minutes in order to answer some fan questions, this would be awesome :p
 
What I want is an app that lets us all hide behind garbage cans in the rain!
 
A skype meeting while watching the film would be pretty awesome. A problem that emediately comes to mind is the different time zones.

Most of us Europeans operate during the same hours. As for the US crowd we could pick a time that would suit most of us. I'm all up for this idea. Imagine all of us coming together from all across the world.

We could post this on our Facebook fan page and invite even more people.

I finally got around to wathcing the behind scenes documentary and Joe Dante mentioned that there's an increase in questions about The 'Burbs at various panels etc. and that there's even a 'Burbs fest out there where fans come together, speak the lines etc.

Anyone heard of this? Intergoogle turns up nothing.

 
I'll give this a little bump. How about it neighbors, are you interested in a Skype call/meeting?
