Wonder what the residents on Mayfield Pl. would do for Halloween? Who's the type with the crazy decoration, who goes trick or treating and who throws a halloween party?

I could imagine that Dave still goes trick or treating. Walter hates this holiday as kids trample his lawn and flowers and kids like to play tricks on him.

Who else to throw a crazy party than Ricky Butler?

And I totally see Art as the one with all kinds of halloween lights and figures he puts up every year. He's childish so ofcourse he likes to scare the kids when they ring the doorbell.

I feel like Ricky would have a real rager for the neighborhood kids. Like, so crazy that all the parents would ban their kids from going, but they don't know about it because they're all partying their asses off at the Rumsfield house (Bonnie knows how to throw a party, and Mark is a party animal once he gets a couple of drinks in him).

Concerning the Rumsfields I can rather imagine Mark staring out of his window with his infrared scope, hoping that those miserable little rats don't touch his car or step onto his lawn too often while Bonnie on the other hands says things like "Come on honey, they're just kids, I think we might give them some sweets."

Ray and Carol are your average nice couple which welcomes the kids and hands them a little something for the old sweet tooth. Yeah, Dave does the trick 'r treat.

Walter: Pissed

Art: Halloween is his thing, he has a lot of creative ideas how to scare the kids on the block and laughs his butt off whenever they run away screaming. He also likes dressing as Skip.

Ricky throws a hell of a party with all of his friends and some "Circus of Power" and "Jetboy" music. They also called the Pizza Dude again.

Klopeks: Still in jail

I bet the neighborhood kids tell ghost stories about the (vacant) Klopek house and dare each other to break in...

The Klopeks(Before they were in jail) would probably act normal and kill people and dig graves.

Ricky would definitely have a major costume party at his house, and the pizza dude would be on speed dial.

I feel Ray and Carol would stay in and watch Jeopardy, giving candy to trick 'r treaters. Maybe they'd stop by Ricky's for a bit.

The Rumsfields: Bonnie would want to celebrate and dress up, and Mark wouldn't want anyone on his lawn, but Bonnie would convince him to celebrate with her. I think he's more of a 4th of July(American Independence Day) fan, than a Halloween fan.

Walter would shut off his lights and wouldn't give out candy.

Art would be playing pranks on the neighborhood. He'd take a Queenie dump , put in a paper bag, and light on fire on Rumsfield's doorstep. He'd stop by Ray's for a bit and convince him and Carol to go to Ricky's party. He'd probably end up stealing some kid's candy and eating it.

True, true...This almost has enough potential for a separate short story, doesn't it?

Hmm...I think it might. :)

So, I finally got around to writing this, almost a year late. In honor of Halloween being next month, I present to you The House on the Cul-De-Sac.

Hope you like it!

Good writing there Demonprincess, I liked it.
And Ray I agree, these ideas are great for a Burbs short story, although I think we all got it wrong with Walter, I think his grand kids come over on Halloween and decorate his house for him so he loosens up and actually gives out treats! Imagine that. :)
