I Have Returned

I absolutely adore Xena: Warrior Princess! And yes that is the same actress that plays Gabrielle's sister Lila that's in the Herc ep.

Do you remember the Bitter Suite ep of Xena? They really knocked it out of the park with that one. A musical episode but they made it work because it never strays from the Xena formula.

The gripe I have with the show was how it ended. Season 6 was not as good as the previous seasons. Hercules never jumped the shark, so I guess that's why I have more fondness for it. But nobody did what Xena did, it was phenomenal.

Thanks for the sub! :)

Don't be surprised about the long duration of time between videos. I do plan to re-do all of them because I had really shitty software at the time of making those and now I have somewhat better software for doing this sort of thing.

I have other videos in the queue waiting, like the song Every Day by Stevie Nicks set to the mini-series Tin Man and I Can't Seem To Make You Mine by The Clientele set to A Passage To India.

I am a master of obscure things...

And aahhh...Michael Hurst! I love that guy! And Kevin Sorbo, and the late Kevin Smith...

I really miss all of those times. :(

My pleasure! I look forward to watching more of your videos. :D

Yes, I remember The Bitter Suite. I was never into musicals before, but I really enjoyed that episode, as well as the musical episode of Buffy.

A lot of people didn't like FIN, and there are things I didn't like about it, either, but I liked how they passed the torch (or chakram, as it were) on to Gabrielle.

It's an interesting coincidence that you mentioned The Bride and The Tin Man. I've been watching Once Upon a Time on Netflix, and am currently watching S3 E2.

Yeah I mean, the ending was highly produced, there weren't any technical flaws really, it's just the story was so damned depressing and there are whole articles on Whooosh about how contrived it really was.

Tapert in the beginning made good decisions like keeping Joxer as a main stay, but this was imo a bad decision to kill off Xena.

Yes Gabby was a successor but it was a brutal way to do it.

LOL Tin Man (being a sort of off take of The Wizard of Oz) was a very strange story but once it got to the point where it reveals what had happened, it really unfolds and you feel so sorry for them. But the story of Tin Man himself was so heart-wrenching.

If you ever hear the song Every Day by Nicks, it echoes what happens in Tin Man deep inside the two sisters. And of course anything by Nicks is going to have such visuals in the words.

I love the way she sings that song. So full of longing.

It would be perfect for a Xena video too, come to think of it...

BTW I added this board's link to one of my blogs on the side where the list of Movie Clips is (outside the Muze12 and Nackendara) which is growing long.

It's funny you should mention Whoosh. I ran Kym's message board until 2005, when I left it in Joxcenia's capable hands so I could pursue other interests. Whoosh's Staff page is a little outdated, but this was me.

Maybe we crossed paths at some point back then?

Jox is now a global admin at Runboard, but continues to keep the light on at the Whoosh board, and created another one here at Runboard.

OMG! I didn't know!

Well I have to say that I read a lot of articles there, but I never joined up, but that was because I never really had the time and wasn't online so much back then. And when I was, I was running some yahoogroups and I did a lot of photo manips. Here's one that I made of Xena in her Cleopatra garb http://www.themadmusicarchive.com/display_photo.aspx?id=1210.

That's from an old MySpace style site that's featured on MadMusic. I can't link to my old MySpace page of photos that I put on my profile because MySpace literally ripped out everyone's blogs and pics. It's like I still have my account, but there's nothing there anymore. And they did this to everyone :( to make the site less individual and more corporate so everyone lost their pics.

But here's the entire folder or page as it were http://www.themadmusicarchive.com/myphotoalbums.aspx?id=12224 I put up at MadMusic.

So you see, I was literally in other cyber and digital realms and missed out on a lot because of that.

I sure hope Whoosh stays up forever though. All these homes are places that need to stay in existence!

It's so weird how we were all aligned in ways and never met!

Whoosh is rich in info of all things Xena & Herc.

And I have all the seasons of Xena & Herc on DVD! I also have a small collection of the Xena magazine but not all the issues unfortunately. The very first edition featured dual covers. One with Xena and one with Callisto. I was never able to get the Callisto one though.

I have all the CD soundtracks released from the show. They need to release a CD with M'Lila's song though.

I really miss Xena and Hercules.

I made a few Xena-related animated gifs, back around that time. A member at Adrienne Wilkinson's message board had Livia as her avatar, so I animated her to yell, "I'm Livia!" I also animated an image of Callisto from The Bitter Suite, like this one except round, making her hands move up and down around the circle like she was spinning it. I have no idea if those animations have been preserved anywhere, but it was in my early days of image manipulation. :)

It looks like we have quite a bit in common. :D

OMG if you find any of your manips, or gifs, let me see them!

I always loved that sort of thing and Callisto in that episode was perfect. I really loved the outfits from the Tarot cards they represented. There's a scene in an old obscure movie called 'Shadow Play' that has scenes where two of the actors are using them.

That's the only other place I've ever seen them used in any way.

And if you have links to old pages that had the gifs, you might be able to find them again on the wayback machine.

I loved Callisto in every episode she was in. :D

Speaking of The Bitter Suite, that's where I got the name of my message board, Temple of Illusia. I haven't been keeping it up, though, and it has gone quite dead.

If I find the animations I'm talking about, I'll let you know.

Here are some others I made years ago. Too bad the black doesn't show up on this background.

If I do any more animations in the future, I'd like to use APNG instead of gif.

That name sounds very cool and I too, have places that have went dead. But I keep them around because of the history.

One day we'll be able to have all these rooms up and running again. Once they make 48 hour days, LOL!

I love those little gifs. I had the spinning chakram on one of my yahoo groups at one time, the group is called Riddles & Stories.

Here's a somewhat screen-grab of it before that horrible yahoo takeover with it's horrid neo design. The group itself is still up, but it's been quite an experience through the years.

If we had 48 hour days, I'd be working 80 hours a week and still wouldn't have time for anything, lol.

I'm glad you like the gifs, and it made me smile to know you were using the chakram. :D

It's a shame Yahoo seems to care more about their bottom line than their members. From what little I can see in the screen grab, it looks like you put a lot of work into your forum, and I'm sure you're not the only one who did.

Thanks for the compliment on the name of my board. The topics of discussion had nothing to do with Xena, but that name just seemed perfect.
