Sorry it's been so long since I've been on the board. :( My work keeps me rather confined. Anyway,

I MET BRUCE DERN / MARK RUMSFIELD TODAY!!!!

At the Hollywood Show in Burbank. I shook his hand, told him I love the movie as I handed him the DVD. He already went to sign the DVD, so I pulled the sleeve out and gave him free reign over the back of the sleeve Hans (Courtney Gains) had already signed the front "It came with the frame".

ME: Bruce, you were SO FUNNY in this movie!

Bruce smiles.

ME: I have to know, how much of that was actually in the script? Did you make up some of those lines?

BRUCE: Well I always add a little something to my roles.

And get this...

BRUCE: The Pinocchio line was mine.

HA! BRUCE'S "HEY PINOCCHIO! WERE ARE YOU GOING" WASN'T EVEN IN THE SCRIPT!!!

That being said, I'm pretty sure the "Hans Christian Anderson" and mocking "It came with the frame?" were probably also him.

I'm sorry, but I didn't want the words "g** damn" signed on my DVD, so I asked him to sign "Donald, Snooping on the Klopeks anytime!" WHICH HE DID! I'll upload a picture of that soon and the picture that he took with me as well. When we took the picture, he kept his hand on my shoulder the whole time, even when I was checking out the picture on my camera to make sure we got it.

He's an awesome guy. I concluded by telling him:

ME: You should do comedy more often, you're really good at it. Heck, you're good in everything you do.

BRUCE: Thank you.

We shook hands and that's a wrap!

That is absolutely great, meeting a cast member of this jewel of a film and even getting the chance to briefly talk with him or her about the movie.

It's great to hear that he is obviously a good guy in private life as well because very often you hear about quite pupular actors who must be meatballs in real life.

You got a very precious DVD sleeve right now with "Hans'" and "Rumsfield's" signatures. Imagine one day when you might have all the actors written some one-liner along with their signature on that sleeve. This might become something like the "Holy Grail" of the Burbanites :D

Great stuff! Looking forward to see the pics...

Thank you all for your replies! It truly doesn't get much better than that for a 'burbs fan! As a side note, I also managed to meet Corey Feldman at last year's Hollywood Show, but I have nothing to show for that brief experience. Anyway....

RayPeterson, I just realized something.... I met Bruce on no less than Saturday, 'Burbs day! Yes I did take out my garbage but I found out it was 'Burbs day too late to beat the hell out of it with a stick. :( The only way I think things could get better now is a walk through tour of Mayfield Place. That would be awesome!

And yes, stay tuned for the pic's, I'll have them uploaded this week! :)

Well done! Looking forward to the pic.
