Joe Dante acknowledges cult status

I recently bought the Masters of Horror box-set, for which Joe Dante directs an episode. On the special features, Dante refers to The Burbs briefly. He alludes to the cult following it has harnessed, and seems genuinely surprised by it.

Thought you might like to know considering so very little is ever mentioned about The Burbs in the media.

Good news. I'm pretty sure Joe Dante reads some message boards as well.

I guess he'd never thought back in 1989 that some people would celebrate something called "Burbs Day" even 20 years later.

Do you think that was really him? I mean anyone could enter a name and post something like this. Joe was it you?
 
I checked Joes myspace today, he hasn't loged in there for 2 months.

Hey Joe, you gotta give us a whack, give us a little nudge,
let us know if you were really here..
 
He's directing the movie "The Hole" which comes in 2010. I think, he doesn't have the time to leave messages on boards and check myspace accounts.
