Joe Dante conventions

Thanks for posting this. I was reminded about the Jaws backlot stuff and have a new post for the neighbors.

Can you imagine the same session with all of us as the audience? With each question the host asked and Joe's response, my mind went in many different directions and I had so many follow on questions.

That's actually an interesting topic: Which questions would we ask Joe Dante if we had the chance to do so?
 
First I would ask Can you please please please do a DVD commentary? I know Dana did but I think Joe would round it out nice. He says in this video "some of the funniest lines in the movie are ad-libbed". I would love to listen to Joe comment about stuff like that as he watches it.

Other questions: I think I know the answer to this and think he has stated "it's all gone" but is there any chance of some cuts that hit the editing room floor existing somewhere in a can in some archive? The workprint and other specials were so awesome.

I'd like to hear him expand on the Hanks / Ducommun relationship. I believe it was mentioned that they butted heads or had some friction? Any stories there?

Oh oh and was that a REAL Bee in Art's mouth?

Stuff like that.
 
I really want to know why they dropped the Barkelow kid character.
If they shot scenes with him and cut them to make the movie less darker,
or if it was dropped before shooting.

Also if Joe knows about that rumored tv cut with new scenes.

And who played the paperboy.
