The bees...reference to Amityville Horror...

The inverted cross on their front door...anything Satanic really...

The Doctor in the basement, a nod to Dr Frankenstein?

Landru - was a real French serial killer. And read this...guess where he burnt the victim's bodies...

Obviously in the basement of the Klopeks there is a sled with the name "Rosebud" which is a reference to "Citizen Kane".

Excellent! Hmmm Wallace & Grommitt's A GRAND DAY OUT also has a sledge in the basement that says Rosebud.
