Movies you recently saw

Hmmm I think my 5 year old may find it a bit too much. For now she can stick to Disney and Dreamworks...

The part with the miscarriage was the point in the movie, where I started crying. It brought back very sad memories for me.I wrote about in the mangy mutts section about Dodger and how she was after Kennyman and I suffered a miscarriag.Let me just tell you it breaks your heart, when you suffer a miscarriage.I understand what your saying,Bonnie.

As for Art,yes Disney and Dreamworks is wonderful, and at 5 years old I agree with what your saying. But lets remember some things in Bambi his mother is shot to death with a gun,Nemo his mother is killed, the Lion King Simba's father is killed by his own brother and simba gets the blame and the guilt til the end of the movie.Arial doesn't have a mother either,Cinderella's father dies and then she is abused by her step family.Dreamworks is good but there is naughty humor in the movies.Yes, kids don't get it and they usually throw it in there for the adults but it still there.

The truth of the matter is life is good but it isn't always sunshine and a bed of roses.Sometimes life is sad.One can't have life without death or death without life.

There are two things I've always told my kids.1:enjoy being a kid, because when your a grown up you will be that forever, and you will find out all the stuff in the world you didn't want to know in the first place.2:there are three kinds of people in the world, good ones, bad ones, and good ones who just mess up all the time.

Yeah, I know what you're saying about Disney and death. I agree we can't shelter them and wrap them up in cotton wool. But I do have to be careful. She saw Bambi when she stayed at my moms house. We didn't know she had it. I asked how Lydia went on and she said she was upset but fine afterwards.

I suppose from an early age, when hamsters, guinea pigs, goldfish, cats and dogs pass away, the child has to learn that that's the way it is.

I remember my cousin used to roar her eyes out watching Lassie years ago. Even when she grew up she still did. LOL.

In Cinderella, as you say, she was abused by a wicked stepmother and taunted by the ugly sisters, and Lyds would ask us all kinds of questions about that. But all Disney movies like that have exactly the same message: Goodness always triumphs over evil.

I am still going to watch what she watches. I mean, I remember wanting to watch Home Alone at Xmas. Now, that movie, whilst clearly for children as well as adults, is extremely violent. But it's done in a cartoon way. Like Tom & Jerry. So she watched some of it, but some scenes were too much. I guess it's all subjective and down to what the parent thinks is appropriate for their own child.

I see Marley & Me is rated PG (Parental Guidance). We know we're safe with 'U' certificates.

Thank you for understanding, and your baby is only five, that makes perfect sense to me.But my kids are not that little anymore, and as they get older it gets different.I caught myself almost crying the other day about my oldest turning 19 tomorrow. It's hard to let go... :D

I must confess.

When I was little up until maybe 8 or 9, I'd cry every time I saw the Neverending Story, where the horse sinks in the swamps of despair. :(

And I still can't watch Black Beauty without crying, except now that I'm older, I feel anger too. I bawled reading the book too.

I agree with you about Neverending Story,But it's still wonderful to watch. :D

I uesed to watch Looney Toons when I was a kid; way more violent than Disney. Doesn't Disney put subliminal things in there movies?
There are many pages on this subeject but here's just one:

Cool. I once heard ot the Lion King and The Rescuers ones. Seems as if those Disney - cartoonists are absolutely sex-driven.

I suppose this kind of thing goes on all the time, right under our noses.
