Okay, so I live in this weird little college town (it's probably the only liberal place for 200 miles--I live in the Southern U.S.), and swear to God, two to three times a week at least I see guys who look like hipster versions of Hans Klopek meandering around. It's getting to the point where I'm considering sneaking pictures and starting a whole Tumblr dedicated to those glorious beasts (although, I would hate to offend any of the subjects, should they catch wind of it. I'm not saying they're unattractive fellows...just a little Klopekesque).

Also, at a party my boss recently threw, we had a brief discussion of The 'Burbs. One of my coworkers brought it up and about 1/3-1/2 of the office had seen it. I chose the right profession.

Haha, you gotta take some pics of these Klopekesque Hipsters, would like to see them. Here in Germany in Frankfurt where I work, you can also occasionally see those Hipsters but no one actually reminded me of Hans yet.

Interesting thing with your coworkers. I never brought that up but I assume exactly 0% of my coworkers know The Burbs. May I ask what you are working (simple curiosity)?

Hans would fit in perfectly if he moved to Portland. Heck, the entire Klopek family would seem normal.

I encounter almost nobody who's ever seen The Burbs. Only once or twice in my life did it come up and someone else had seen it.

One of my hobbies is sneaking Burbs quotes into conversations with people and for some reason being satisfied that they have no idea where it's from.

A few weeks ago someone mentioned that the sky was green. "Green sky at night, neighbour take flight," got me a weird look...

Haha, and did you afterwards explain WHY you said it or do you simply leave the others thinking "Wow, this guy makes a lot of weird statements".

I never tell! I like people thinking I'm weird :)
