Yo yo yo, what's up?!

I'm in a rock band, and I always wanted to write a song about the movie...but I never wanted to make it too straightforward... for instance, just write about new neighbors moving in, and people getting all paranoid and superstitious, etc.. I wanted to write it from a different perspective.. but that's what I'm having a difficult time with. It's easy to write a 'story'-type format about the Burbs, but I want something that's maybe a little more cryptic... Maybe write about how the Klopeks view their neighbors? Or write about paranoia in general?... Any ideas, guys?
I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!

have you heard the song "suburbia" by the rugburns? you could try listening to that one for inspiration.

what about ricky's point of view? he's already been the "voice over" on some of these guys, hahaha.

you could try and take some quotes from the song? something about gunwielding guys playing canasta, mowing the lawn 800 times. gravediggers in the rain, garbies should lay on some hands. scum barking rats. now i'm just brainstorming. lmao!

THERE GO THE GOD D*MN BROWNIES!

haha speaking of, my sis and i made a "song" from the burbs. for some reason we got the sentence "bring it to the cellar" on our minds. dunno where it came from.
the song goes like:

[Rumsfield: "what've you got in the cellar here KLOPEK!!!]
(wah wah wah wah wah wah wah) *intensity rises as you "sing" that part..
"bring it to the cellar, bring it to the cellar..." etc etc for as long as you want.

LOL i dunno how we ended up with that. I think I've got a videoclip somewhere.
(I think it was cause FatBoy Slim once had a song with an actual quote from Marge Simpsons? - and so we always imitate Mark with that first quote..lmao.)

anyway, hope this helps a bit. I like brainstorming.

Hey, thanks a lot! I appreciate the help. I think I got an idea... I should probably write about from Ricky's POV, or about gravediggers in the rain. And MAYBE throw in "THERE GO THE GOD DAMN BROWNIES" in the chorus! :)

There's a song called 'Suburbia' from the The Pet Shop Boys too, maybe it will give you some inspiration :)

Good luck soldier.
