Neighbors

Now, this isn't really a 'neighbors from hell' topic. But I was wondering what your neighbors are like? Do you get on? In summer we have neighbors round for BBQ, drinks at night on the patio etc.

We go sledging together. My daughter plays with the other kids her age on our street. Everybody knows everybody. We don't live in each others' pockets though, I wouldn't have that. Maybe it's because we're a cul-de-sac?

But last night at 7:30pm my next door-but-two neighbours and their kids, some neighbors at the bottom of the road and us all went swimming. I've never seen that before...I've never done things like that with neighbors on other streets I've lived on...I...I've never done that. Is this unusual or do you guys also do stuff?
 
I don't have a close relationship to my neighbours. I don't do things with them together. Mostly because they're about 30 - 35 years older than me. I greet them on the street and so on but that's it. So it's a friendly and polite, but very very distant relationship. I could never imagine going swimming with them or inviting them for a BBQ. At least they all have a lawn.
 
I'm in a similar situation, where my neighbors all have at least 30 years one me...in many cases, it's more like 50-60 years. That makes me particularly useful in the winter when the shoveling needs to get done :) We don't have much in common for conversation, but they're all at least semi-normal.

The summer BBQ sounds cool - I'm moving in September and I hope there's some neighbors there who are around for the patio hang outs.
 
I get along pretty good with my neigbors, but we do have a Klopek like family behind our house.
