Hey Ya'll... I'm a filmmaker and my favorite movie is of course... THE 'BURBS... so my next film (it'll be my first feature film) is called "THE NEIGHBORS" and it's about a group of kids who suspect the new neighbors are vampires. Though it has it's own original story and character arc, you will see a lot of throwbacks to the 'Burbs and we'll probably even give thanks to Joe Dante & Dana Olsen (writer of the burbs) in the credits. Just thought I'd let my friendly neighbors' know it's in the works... we're hoping to finish raising the money this summer and shoot it in Seattle, Wa. later this year. Cheers! (You can check out my first film www.FetchTheShortFilm.com if you want :)

Pity no one picked up this 1st April fools joke ;)
(Unless you where serious, that is)...

...in case you where serious, there is already a movie with the concept of neighborhood kids thinking their neighbor is a vampire, it's called FRIGHT NIGHT (there's an 80's movie version, the original) and there's even a new version. Both are pretty good.

Awesome.. :)

Of course, I can even envision a crossover between Fright Night and The ’Burbs where Jerry sees Ricky for the first time and takes a liking to him; he eventually sires Ricky as a vampire similar to himself (with the traits of a fruit-eating bat because of eating apples), only different. However, when Ricky wakes up and discovers this, he takes it in stride, finding it to be pretty cool, much to Jerry’s surprise. Plus, as he explains to Jerry, he still chooses to stay true to himself, and makes it a point to only take down human criminals — namely, muggers, abusers and people who would go after his friend Dave Peterson, to name a few.

Hook, line and sinker,..... 6+ years later :D

Can't believe I fell for it, but reading that subject line with Fright Night and The 'Burbs had me rushing in
