You're absolutely right.

What do you say to those who say we never got there?
 
you can't argue with them. They will believe what they want. I think those same people would argue that the recent Mars landing is a hoax as well and that the earth is flat. We know it isn't but try convincing the unconviceable. If you don't want to believe something, nothing I say can make you. We are all like that in one fashion or another, although most of us are very open minded we have certain beliefs we hold dearly that no one else can convince us otherwise.

Sometimes we just have to agree to disagree. The problem comes in when there is no respect for another person's beliefs (unless of course they differ from mine and are consequently BS . ;) )

I just heard them talking about that in the news the other day...I forgot the exact percentage now but the majority (something like 60% I think) were failures. I know that the failures far outweighed the successes, whatever the figures.
I think it's funny....typical arrogance of man to scream sabotage rather than take responsibility for his own mistakes. NASA has an unbelievable history of self-righteousness and superiority. I think that's exactly what's kept the space program in the 60s while the Etch-A-Sketch has evolved into the new millennium.
 
While there have been failures - the Spirit and Opportunity Rovers were definitely a huge success in terms of exploration and mission duration.

I'm still waiting for a mission to Jupiter's moon Europa - one of the plans is to have an underwater robot melt through miles of ice and check the water for bacterial life

I'm afraid you have to wait a little longer. This sounds like a plan they have for... let's say 2040?

I've also been really fascinated with the recent progress they've been making in regards to the exploration of Mars. Do you really think they'll get to the point of sending a man to Mars? I mean come on, it's a 6 month flight to sit in some dank, wet space station and wait for that Martian with the enormous head (and eyes) to get drunk and fall down the stairs...
