Political Correctness Gone MAD... UK-US...or wherever

Still the sick jokes have to respect certain limts.

Here in Germany recently someone made a joke about child rapists in a show and was kicked out.

Another show had someone making the Hitler salute, he was also kicked out.
 
Well...the first point isn't a funny topic full stop. There's no way it ever could be.

I have heard George Carlin make a routine out of the concept of rape before. It's on You Tube.

As for the Hitler thing...that's going to be contextual. Where you are it's too close for comfort. However, you'll remember the classic scene in Fawlty Towers where John Cleese did the goose-step etc in The Germans episode. I believe that, too, was banned in Germany?
 
In Germany the Hitler salute or the use of the swastika is a criminal act within the meaning of the law. That differs our situation from other countries.

It's called "the use of signs of anti-constitutional organisations". Due to our past we are very careful with anything which goes that way.

The John Cleese joke might be banned, I'm not sure. I know there's a Star Trek episode which has never been shown on German television until the late 90's and probably has never been rebroadcasted again ("Patterns of force").

A couple of months ago a German talk show lady lost her job and got kicked out of another show because she was refering to achievements in the family policy of the Nazis and mentioned the construction of many freeways which happened under the Hitler regime. A very sensitive topic here.
 
And yet the German Autobahn system that was constructed by the Nazis became the model for the US Interstate System because it was an efficient way to move men and armor quickly, or as in peacetime, commerce - not to mention people. Doesn't make up for the evil perpetrated by the Nazis, but the Autobahn system was not a bad thing taken by itself. The debate in the US is about whether groups like Neo-Nazis have the right of free speech, even if it is hate speech. Usually felt to be a slippery slope to limit speech, even if you don't like it except, as pointed out in Art's original post, by the PC crowd. However, certain things are too reprehensible to warrant protection.

Art, didn't I hear about a debate going on in England about homeowners having to retreat from an intruder?

Yeah things are so SH*T here. Messed up. I know so many professionals who are out of here. New Zealand, France, Canada, Belgium. Anywhere. The working, law-abiding, home owner, has very few rights. And the Britain I knew when I was a kid, is disappearing extremely fast. There is no British identity anymore. If we fly the English flag we're racist. The government have even looked to ban Christmas...as it may be offensive to Muslims. Incidentally, we now have Eid and Diwali celebrations here........

There was a guy called 'Toni Martin' in his late 50s. He lived alone on a derelict farm and had been burgled many times. His place was in the middle of nowhere. He was burgled by two gutless turds in the middle of the night. Martin opened fire in the dark (in a state of panic as a torch was shone in his face) with his shotgun. Cut a long story short, one piece of crap died (boo-hoo) the other was injured. Martin got custody, the burglar Faeron (don't even get me started) got compensated.

Seriously dudes, things are so messed up here. Criminals are protected. There is no punishment. Victims are forgotten. Our taxes are hysterical. Heating bills astronomic. Petrol prices...dont wanna go there... And our taxes are going to fund the benefits that Polish and millions of other immigrant workers are sending home.
 
It's interesting to see that these things don't differ much between the U.K: and Germany. A global conspiracy?
 
At least here in Texas, if someone breaks into your house and you shoot them, you will generally get no-billed by a grand jury. Some states demand you retreat, which is a load of crap. I know the argument I heard put forth in the British case says that even someone who breaks into your house still maintains some rights, but in my opinion he forfeits those rights the moment he breaks into my house. I would hate to shoot someone but rather them than me.

There's a massive discrepency between the liberal, do-gooding judges here and what the police want. Some Senior Police Chiefs (ACPOs) have said the homeowner should not be given "reasonable force" to get rid of an intruder. It should be "any force necessary to defend". Of course, the bleeding heart extreme lefty liberals are like "Aw...but that means people will be killed".... yyyyyyyyeap...And I'll feel the world get lighter. Of course....they won't be killed if they don't go into someone else's house to steal all their stuff.....

THATs the slippery slope. THAT'S the time to get the F out of Dodge. What the hell is this man doing???? He's a Christian for Christ's sake!!!! He needs removing. Thankfully his comments have been blasted by just about everyone. Unreal dudes. We're living in dire times.
 
I understand totally. You guys are slowly losing your country, but I think all of western civilization is sliding down the same slope. I think we have passed our high water mark. We have the ongoing arguments regarding immigration and unsecured borders, jobs going overseas. I worry about the loss of manufacturing jobs and the decline of the middle class here as a result.
