President Obama

I was surprised as well. I'm still not sure why he got it.

Obviously he didn't get it for the things he did but for the things he said. For his "vision" of a better world.

So you get nobel prizes for blah blah nowadays.

Walter, I have your dog.
Perhaps Hillary Clinton should have got the peace prize.

Many people qualify for that. Hillary might be one since what she did in this case seems really important.

Check out this funny spoof of Obama.

Some people actually believe that Obama is the Antichrist. Search youtube for his name and antichtist and you'll get some interesting videos.

Hey RP, have you heard of this?

Yeah I've hard of this. While the music and the voices actually seem to be good, I believe the whole concept is kinda ridiculous.

For some reason there is indeed a huge "fanbase" here in Germany for Obama and the newspapers have already mentioned the word "Obamania" but a musical is in my opinion too much of a good thing.

Oh and believe me, David Hasselhoff is not THAT big in Germany and certainly not the most popular American figure. I hope that was irony by the author of the article.

um, actually no, over here in the U.S. we are led to believe that Hasselhoff is some kind of mega-super star in Germany. We are told he sells millions of CDs as a singer, and Baywatch is the most popular German show of all time. So are you saying his publishest has exaggerated the German popularity of Hasselhoff?

Oh and I agree, a Obama musical seems ridiculous, nobody would waste their money on such a thing here.

Well I have to admit that he WAS big here in the early 90's. Knight Rider and Baywatch were popular shows. And when The Hoff began to sing, people actually bought his music. He even sang songs in German (or at least tried to). He also sang when the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 and afterwards claimed that he contributed to bringing the wall down and uniting Germany. Of course he's the only one who believes this.

So yes, he was really popular here once but that was 18-20 years ago. Nowadays no one listens to his music, as far as I know there's no German TV station which airs Baywatch or Knight Rider, the newspapers are occasionally reporting when he was totally drunk once again. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.
