Check this out.

"Ducommun played small parts in films, beginning with No Small Affair (1984) but found himself limited by a frame carrying 426 lbs. He slimmed down more than 200 lb., and won the role of Art Weingartner, the dumb lug nosy neighbor to Tom Hanks in The 'burbs (1989). Despite good reaction to his work, the film was not a success, and Ducommun found himself mixing live performances in with his occasional film work"

WHAT??? Not a success? And my God how big was that guy!!! He slimmed down 200 lb to play Art LOL

That must be why he got the part, he could slam down Carols big breakfast like no other actor.

Exactly who was the brainless idiot that made this foolish statement? Probably some Hollywood critic who thinks a movie has to make a bazillion dollars to be called a success.

I think that's all hollywood cares about. The BIG bucks.

Wow I'm genuinely surprised! A 400lb rotund guy, hey - it's a cinch he's not running for governor, right?

In this vid he's obviously the guy on the left. Shows him a little more obese than he was in the Burbs. I almost didn't recognize him, though.

He must've slimmed down for the part...

LOL he probably thought he looked well trim!
