Whoa, I've just seen Michael Moore's Sicko and well, what should I say?

Is it really that bad in the U.S.? What's wrong with your medical healtcare system? What's wrong with the people not protesting against it? You really just don't seem to live in paradise over there guys.

Maybe it's just the typical Michael-Moore-one-sided-point-of-view but wow, it's disgusting how your profit maximizing healthcare companies treat those who are in need of medical help. Kids died because medical treatment has been refused which is absolutely unthinkable in countries like the U.K, France or Germany. But as your politicans would say, this is the evil "socialized healthcare", right?

I'm writing this while still being impressed from the impact of that documentary so sorry for potentially sounding offensive. Sometimes I believe, things are going wrong here in Germany but then I'm looking across the big pond and reconsider my worries...

I saw that movie, and it's really lopsided towards his point of view. 2 sides to ever coin. Michael Moore looks like he's had one two many of those beef sandwiches.

Hah, true. :D

EVERY documentary is one sided; they're never an objective reality. It's never going to be impartial, unbiased, value-free, neutral, non-partisan because someone is funding it. I haven't seen Moore's SICKO film. But. If there are inaccuracies, if the truth is distorted or he's telling downright lies...then surely someone should raise this?

I know that in INCONVENIENT TRUTH (which I do have) there was a lot of contention on what he was saying about predictions of global warming (didn't stop him getting the big prize tho! lol)

Michael Moore...I mean...I've seen Farenheit and Bowling...I don't really know what to make of the guy. But Im sure everyone else has strong opinions.

Ray Peterson. I'm guessing your DVD collection in certain areas mirrors mine :)

Michael Moore does not make documentaries - he makes infomercials for his points of view. His accuracy is highly suspect and his objectivity is nonexistent

Again, IMO

Oh yeah, everything is subjective.

Wikipaedia use the term 'documentary'. Like I said I haven't seen it, so I have no idea what format it is or how to refer to it - so I went by:

Wikipaedia
"Sicko (or SiCKO) is a 2007 documentary film by American filmmaker Michael Moore that investigates the American health care system"

Yeah, He publishes them as documentaries. Actually, one of the biggest problems with the US health care system is the large numbers of illegal aliens who utilize emergency rooms of hospitals as doctors offices so that when you actually go into an ER with an emergency you stand in line behind dozens of people with colds who are just trying to get a prescription for cough syrup.

There was an article I read and later saw on one of the news magazine program on TV about Canadians with dire illnesses such as brain tumors who come to the US to get treated because by the time they get through the Canadian public health care system, their illnesses have progressed from treatable to terminal. Eye-opening.

That's a Big 10-4 Mayfield!

I don't know if Michael Moore really wants to force his opinion upon his viewers. In my opinion he simply wants to provoke and make his viewers think about what they just saw. Thus by making his documentaries extremely over the top.

I mean come on, at the end he takes the 9/11 rescue workers and carries them to Guantanamo for full medical service and I just thought "Wow, now Michael is really losing it!"

Nonetheles, like every myth, there is some truth in Moore's Sicko. It's not 2 hours of lying, stretching the truth and exaggerating.
