I mean, we just love it here in Hinkley hills.

Well, I call my little street that anyway :)

We've been having some heat waves in the south of Sweden, and tropical nights as well, since we're not exactly America or known for having screendors (which I do have, to my neightbors surprise) or A/C anywhere, it's kinda too hot for my liking tbh. But I love the greens everywhere, and r.n we're having much needed rain and some clouds, yay.

Spend most of my nights gaming with my overseas friends tbh. Should do something about my lawn, but meh...

Just chilling in my indoor summer area..

Or sometimes on the front porch with a few hundred beers...

I should really do something about my backyard lawn, but at least it's private (I planted those tuja hedges in order to have total privacy, as you can see - that worked), there are houses next to me everywhere, but now the curious neighbors can't see a thing...

Yeah it's a little overgrown, but it's kinda cozy, I like it here.
(Actually the various images has been taken over time so it's actually a jungle here now, very befitting of my nickname).

Oh I have a more recent image, I planted a new hedge in front:

Edit: Fun fact, did you know I purchased my house 10+ years ago based on the Burbs movie and "Street environment" ? I think I explained that some 10 years ago, but it's a fun reminder to the community how a movie can affect someones life - literally forever. And I paid only 50K USD for it back then, what a bargain that was, worth a heck of a lot more now :)

How're you doing in your neighborhood?

I like that. It really has some Burbs-feel to it.

And there's a lot of green around the house. Green plants in the morning...

50k is indeed a bargain. But you didn't find any femur bones in your backyard yet, right?

How many square meters of floor space do you have, it looks quite large?

Here in Germany, the summer remains somewhat behind its possibilities this year. Really sunny days are rare and the temperatures are permanently only around 20-22 degrees Celsius. In that respect, I spend much of the summer so far indoors rather than out. But even so, it can still be enjoyed. So I finally get to play a few games that I bought in the Steam and GOG sales for cheap money and never played until now. :D

Not that I have been digging, but there was this mysterious grave-like stone collection in the back yard under a tree, some of the neighbors rumored that the original owner buried his belowed dog there, I never tested that theory, and let the stones be.

It is indeed large, much larger than I thought. In the AD it said 101m2, but it turns out Sweden measures things differently than were I come from, it doesn't include the walls and it doesn't include the top floor and the basement + terrace, turns out it's freaking huge, I was quite surprised when I got it, yes - I bought it on a whim, had to repair a few flaws too, but did most of it myself. Turns out to be a really solid house.

Solid floors, solid walls!

So it's all-in-all about 300m2 with everything included, the roof is so steep you don't have to duck for the doors or roof, you can walk standing up everywhere, and the basement has a drive-in garage, very practical as I can go directly from the house to the car without getting wet.

You bought some steam games during the summer sales? So did I, got shadow of the tomb raider, slipways and a few others I don't remember, bought a whole lot, what did you get?

That's a lovely house JoOngle and I do remember hearing something about your 'Burbs inspiration, when buying the house. But that was years ago, this forum was a lot smaller, safer too.

For 50K you made the deal of your life. My wife and I bought a house a couple of months ago, approx half the size of yours and we gave 5M (SEK) for it. Goes to show that the prices have gone up a lot.

I'm on my summer vacation and the time is spent renovating and painting our house. I hope to be done in a week or two, so that I can enjoy the rest of the summer in my back yard.

Well, let's see.

- Hades (nice one, my first of the Rogue-like genre and highly addictive)
- Jagged Alliance 2 (used to play it a lot in my youth and it's still great)
- Suzerain (via gog.com, kind of like a political simulation, pretty interesting)
- Toonstruck (highly recommended if you're into point'n click adventures, also part of my youth)

I used to play Shadow of the Tomb Raider on the PS4 some time ago, that was pretty good. Not as good as the Uncharted games, though.

Haha, this one actually made me crack up.

5 Mill? Well, then you probably either live by the lake, or in/or near a big city. What you paid is called "location tax", my house just 50 minutes by train from here cost 7.7 Million (SEK in Lund) because...LUND. Same house, but closer to a big city.

As long as you're happy and can afford it, it doesn't matter if it costed you 20 Millions or more, If I could afford it, I'd gladly pay 20 Millions to live in the Real Hinkley Hills :)

@ray, yeah I had the Uncharted series too, never finished them, but it was for sure beautiful.

Yes the town is quite big (Helsingborg) and the prices have gone up a lot. But compared to friends living the Göteborg/Stockholm these prices are nothing. A friend of mine bought a similar house, in a good location, in Göteborg and paid 8M+.

I wish I bought the house 10 years ago, it was like half the price. And at the end of the day I hope that we'll enjoy it and that's all that matters.
