This is my list so far

Werner Klopek - Christoph Waltz (great minds think alike)
Hans Klopek - Chris Owen
Reuben Klopek -

Walter Seznick - Bruce Dern (great idea Kris Klopek)

Bonnie Rumsfield - Scarlet Johansson (gotta have the hottest piece of meat)
Mark Rumsfield -

Art Weingartner - Seth Rogan ( I think he can pull it off)

Carol Peterson -
Ray Peterson -
Dave Peterson -

Ricky Butler -

Garbage Man 1 -
Garbage Man 2 -

Detective 1 -
Detective 2 -

It's really hard to pick actors for the Petersons and Ricky Butler. 10 years ago I would probably suggest Sean William Scott for the role of Ricky but he's too old these days. Can't really think of anyone.

I also like the idea of Kevin James as Art as proposed by DavePeterson. I believe it would fit.

You know, for some reason some of the "Hangover" cast just came to my mind.

Bradley Cooper as your everyday (probably a little too handsome) neighbour Ray Peterson and especially Zach Galifianakis as the modern version of Art.

Dude, either Seth Rogan or Zach G would be great as Art! I definitely agree that Bradley Cooper is too hot to be Ray...but that's just me. ;)

And Scarlett Johansson is too hot to be Bonnie, but I can live with her slightly inappropriate casting for the gardening scene alone (and the nightie scene with Queenie, now that I think about it).

Alice Eve anyone? *Sigh*, she's simply gorgeous.

Walter, I have your dog.

Scarlett J. is WAY to badass to be Bonnie...I mean, have you SEEN Avengers?

You're probably right. I also just saw Under The Skin the other day. If Scarlett played Bonnie in The Burbs she'd probably lead all 3 of the Klopeks into a black pool of death and the whole film would be over in about 12 minutes...

I didn't know her by name when you mentioned her, although now I realise I've seen her in a few things. You're right, she's gorgeous, and she could work really well as Bonnie!

I've never seen that.
I still think Woody Harrelson would make a great Rumsfield. Has anyone else seen him in Seven Psychopaths?

And Chris Owen as Hans is a great fit. He even has the look about him.

I think Tyler Labine would make a great Art.

People I wouldn't want: Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Kevin James. Or any actors prominent in Judd Apatow's films. Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, etc. They are all funny, but just don't fit the 'Burbs type of humor.

"You are the one who lives next door."
Yeah Woody Harroldson would fit the role of Rumsfield. He's a great actor and I liked him in 7 psychos, and he was phenominal in True Detective.

I think the Zombieland Harroldson would work great as a 2014 version of Rumsfield.

"A soldiers way, saves the day. Entré."
I think the way Woody acted in some of The Hunger Games would work well for Rumsfield. The straggly hair fits too! Although in the original screenplay Rumsfield was described as having a crew cut, wasn't he? For an ex army guy that sounds about right, but now that Bruce Dern was so right with his longer hair the crew cut just seems all wrong...

I've never seen that.
Here's my cast made up of other people's fantastic suggestions and a couple of my own:

Ray: Jason Bateman

Art: Tyler Labine

Rumsfield: Woody Harrelson

Ricky: Kieran Culkin - Was great in Scott Pilgrim vs the World and it would be fun seeing him play a spaced out teenager.

Carol: Amy Adams - She's a fantastic actress which would be great for portraying a character who is in many ways a nagging wife and a bit of a buzzkill but still extremely likeable.

Bonnie: Emma Stone - She's a great comedic actress, attractive too and it would be funny to see her play a slightly ditzy trophy wife

Dr Werner Klopek: Cristoph Waltz

Reuben Klopek: ?

Hans Klopek: Caleb Landry Jones

I really like Amy Adams. She might make a really good Carol actually. She'd look good in the summer dresses too :)

I've never seen that.
The more I think about it, the more I become convinced that Christoph Waltz would indeed be the perfect choice for Werner Klopek...yeah, THE perfect choice.

Walter, I have your dog.

That's my favorite list so far.

Brother Theodore really is hard to replace. There isn't anyone quite like him out there in the comedy world.

Love it! But what about Mila Kunis as Bonnie? She's hella hot, but she's also hilarious and (as her performance on That 70s Show proves) she can play a great dingbat. :)

It would probably work best if some unknown actor played him. A lot of roles in The Burbs would work well with unknown actors. At the time I first saw The Burbs, I'd never seen a LOT of the cast in anything before. Obviously I'd seen Tom, Bruce, Carrie, and Corey before, but maybe none of the others.

I've never seen that.
