The 'Burbs remake

Scarlett J. is WAY to badass to be Bonnie...I mean, have you SEEN Avengers?

You're probably right. I also just saw Under The Skin the other day. If Scarlett played Bonnie in The Burbs she'd probably lead all 3 of the Klopeks into a black pool of death and the whole film would be over in about 12 minutes...

Actually, Kris, on second thought, I would pay good money to Scarlett as Bonnie...like, she could pooh-pooh Rumsfield's paranoia at the beginning, but once it was obvious that the Klopeks were up to something, she would have it figured out and be torching the house within minutes.

IDK, maybe I just really love the idea of Bonnie secretly being more badass than Mark. :D

...This man said it's gruesome that someone so handsome should care.

Here's my cast made up of other people's fantastic suggestions and a couple of my own:

Ray: Jason Bateman

Art: Tyler Labine

Rumsfield: Woody Harrelson

Ricky: Kieran Culkin - Was great in Scott Pilgrim vs the World and it would be fun seeing him play a spaced out teenager.

Carol: Amy Adams - She's a fantastic actress which would be great for portraying a character who is in many ways a nagging wife and a bit of a buzzkill but still extremely likeable.

Bonnie: Emma Stone - She's a great comedic actress, attractive too and it would be funny to see her play a slightly ditzy trophy wife

Dr Werner Klopek: Cristoph Waltz

Reuben Klopek: ?

Hans Klopek: Caleb Landry Jones

I really like Amy Adams. She might make a really good Carol actually. She'd look good in the summer dresses too :)

Amy Adams would look radiant in the dresses Carrie Fisher wears in this film.

Love it! But what about Mila Kunis as Bonnie? She's hella hot, but she's also hilarious and (as her performance on That 70s Show proves) she can play a great dingbat. :)

Also a good choice. Another choice I had was Jennifer Lawrence but I think any young, attractive actress with good comedic skills would fit the bill.
Dave Peterson: David Mazouz - He's a good young actor and I think he'd really stand out in a small role.

Reuben Klopek: Mark Margolis - Great character actor, great gravelly voice and I think he'd be funny in a straight faced comedy role.

Walter: Lee Majors - I think the idea of the Six Million Dollar man playing a helpless old man is pretty funny.

Vic: Harvey Keitel
Joe: Bill Hader - I think these two would be really good together, Keitel being confrontational and Hader being really passive.

Detective #1: Michael K Williams - He was excellent in The Wire and I like the idea of filling the smaller roles with real stand out actors.

Detective #2: John Lithgow - Great in pretty much everything he's been in and it would be hilarious hearing him read the "ransom note" line.

I don't care if she's right for the part. If she's in it, I'd be watching!

I've never seen that.

Me too
I think any sane guy would be up for that choice!

Amy Adams would be pretty good, but I think Tina Fey might do an excellent job as well...plus, it might be nice to have more super funny ladies in the cast. As much as I love The 'Burbs, I don't feel like the female characters got enough screen time or chances to be funny, and they had so much potential to be (Carol, IMO, should be able to out-snark any of the men any day).

Recently I've been thinking that Ron Livingston could play a good role as Ray. He's got that middle aged guy look down, and is fairly comedic.

Could Danny Devito play a grumpy Reuben? It's so hard to think of older short actors for that role.

Hm, with the appropriate make-up I can indeed picture Danny in that role. Finding someone to act Reube is especially difficult in my opinion since Brother Theodore obviously was a very special man and the way he played that role is really unique.

Walter, I have your dog.
Considering how Mr. DeVito looked as the Penguin in Batman, I'd say he'd be PERFECT for the role.

Ray Peterson: Bill Hader
Carole Peterson: Kristen Wiig
(I think they have good chemistry)

Art: Patton Oswalt or (if he can do a good American accent) Nick Frost
Mark and Bonnie Rumsfield: Bruce Campbell and Natalie Portman
Ricky: i can't think of anyone

Werner: Werner Herzog
Reuben: Max von Sydow
Hans: I'd love to see Simon Pegg in this role, but he's kinda too old for it.

Walter: Christopher Lloyd

That's it really, my ideal remake cast.

Oh, and Jim Jarmusch and Sam Raimi as the garbies.
